Celem akcji jest eliminacja z życia społecznego negatywnych zachowań narażających ludzi na skutki biernego palenia, a także informowanie społeczeństwa o możliwościach, jakie daje postęp technologiczny palarnie i kabin dla palaczy by ochronic osób niepalących przed biernym paleniem.

“We were having a meeting at a customer, in the lunch area, looking at some blueprints of the building to decide where to install the 7 cabins to come.
From the smell invading the corridor there was no doubt that people smoked everywhere. Entering the lunch area, 3 dirty ash trays on the lunch table confirmed it.

After 20 minutes discussions, 3 employees came in to to the lunch area and lit a cigarette, without any hesitation. That we were in the lunch room, 5 non smokers, and that the law makes it clearly forbidden did not bother them.
I am sure they were not careless or arrogant, they just did not think about it.”

“I arrived at the Zürich airport yesterday, and I was very surprised to see their “Camel smoking lounge“.
It looked great. Luxurious, with sofas, and long windows with golden letters on them.
Most amazing of all, there was not smell at all when I passed by. This is so unusual, especially if you have traveled to Munich and Frankfurt where the smoking solution really makes its presence felt. This made med feel that I HAD to stop.

It was first when I came inside that I realized that even though the smoking room did a good job at containing the smoke inside, a short visit transformed me into a “stink bomb”, where all my clothes and my hair where impregnated immediately. –this is why we believe smoke has to be captured immediately, as close as its source as possible…

I could live with it for a couple of hours until I came home and could shower. What I could not live with, was the disgusted look of my neighbors on the flight, that obviously thought I stank.”

“This big company with thousands of employees and several buildings has decided to send the smokers outside. Employees will “check out” for smoking and it should not create too many problems they believe.

However, there is one place where they already know they will not be able to handle the consequences of sending the smokers outside, and it is their call center, where all employees should be kept as close as possible to both the workplace and their other colleagues.

Nice to see that they already have identified such a need, as it matches our exactly our experience of reality at other customers.
That same experience tells me there will be other places in those big buildings but realizing that he has those other local needs is a journey that the customer has to do by himself. I will just make sure that I am his tour operator.”

“we have had guests that are smoking in their rooms unaware of the smoke alarms we have installed. Suddenly the alarm goes off and scares the rest of the guests in the hotel and also forces the hotel staff to try to find the cause of the alarm and call the fire brigade and tell them that there is no “real” fire and that they don’t have to come.

And – besides the hassle with fire alarm, guests tend to live burning cigarettes on the table in the hotel room which leaves nasty burn marks on expensive designer furniture, both costly and unpleasant for future guests

The worst incident was two guests that after a night on the town came back to their room and suddenly wanted a cigarette – but didn’t want to leave the room and go downstairs and outside. They had noticed the smoke alarm on the ceiling of their room and realized they had a small dilemma.
They came up with the “bright” idea to climb up on a chair, dismount the smoke alarm and cut the cords to the alarm.
Smart solution? No, cutting the cords causes the alarm to go off…. And we are back at square 1 again with scared guests, stressed out staff and wasted time for the fire brigade.”

Now he is planning for placement of smoking cabins on different floors of the hotel and in the conference area – all to prevent safety hazards and also to not have smokers standing outside the hotel on the sidewalk. Still, the rent of the cabin costs less that the cost of alarms, possible visits from the fire brigade, wasted furniture and even compensation for other guests of the hotel.

Check into what competencies and knowledge the company has with working for smoke-free workplaces and tobacco use and also how many years they’ve done it.

How many clients does the vendor have, can they offer proof of satisfied clients and can you have the possibility to see a smoking cabin at a clients place of business?

To sell to a customer the first time is not difficult, but how many customers would choose the same vendor again, now that they know the smoking cabins function and service?

4  Function over time

Nearly all smoking booths works well the during the first periodfirst time after installation, but unfortunately there are many who perform worse over time, resulting in bad smell and, worst of all – no protection from hazardous particles and gases. “We had to deal with an interesting situation yesterday. I was visiting a prospect that had a real problem to solve.

Their office is situated in one of the high building towers just outside Paris, and as many companies when the law against smoking everywhere at the office came in 2007 they decided to throw all the smokers outside. It was about time they should quit.
Their problem is that 4 years afterwards, very few of the smokers have actually quit smoking and next to the better air environment in the office they are struggling with issues such as long pauses from the desk to endless arguments between the smokers and none smokers. More than that there is the feeling that the smokers actually like this situation and hang together.
This was our 2nd meeting as they had had an internal discussion about using our smoking cabins to keep the environment smoke free without isolating the smokers last week…
Their internal discussion ended up as a nightmare, as the smokers now refuse to get it again. “you threw us outside, now we are going to stay there” said one of them… somehow I understand them, their situation in their work free smoking zone is pretty comfortable.

Now, I know this will be a long decision process, and we will have to have several more meetings in the near future to help this company focus on the smoke and not on the smokers. They will now create and implement with us a real “non smoking policy” with neither exclusion of the smokers nor compromise with the smoke.
Our cabin will be part of their smoking policy as an important tool to handle the smokers in the meantime.
This will be a long process for them, but as the same time they take their corporate responsibility.”

That’s why we stopped making smoking rooms a long time ago(yes, we actually made smoking rooms back in the days).

With the smoking cabin – now that’s a completely different story when it comes to taking care of tobacco smoke…

The three steps on how the smoking cabin cleans the air:

1. Capturing the smoke close to the source (ie. the cigarette and the smoker). That is one of the reasons we keep our smoking cabins so small – we can capture the tobacco smoke really quick.

2. The tobacco smoke is cleaned in the smoking cabins own filter system. This removes 99.9995%(!) of the particles that are the most harmful to inhale. This is in the same class of air quality as clinically clean areas(eg. operating rooms in hospitals). And the gases are cleaned 100%(!!) in Smoke Free Systems’ patented charcoal filter.

3. Taking care of the cigarette butt – the smoking cabin has a unique fireproof Ash Handling System (AHS) to ensure a safe disposal of ash and cigarette ends. This takes care of the smell from the ashes and cigarette butts (think “full ashtray”)The smart thing with this AHS is that it also eliminates any risk of fire in the smoking cabin (well not if you put a blowtorch to it of course…).
